The Traditional Approach would include surgery to remove the torn ACL and replace it with a fake ligament. One of the drawbacks to this procedure is that the replacement ligament is inserted, it goes in a different position than the original ligament that you were born with. The varied angle thus leads to a higher rate of re-tearing the ligament. Oddly enough, not only are the chances accelerated for those that play sports to re-tear it, but the odds of tearing the opposite ACL increases too.

For those who suffer from meniscus tears in their knees, surgery is focused on partial meniscectomy. The goal here is to relieve you of pain by removing only parts of the torn meniscus. The downside to this is that you lose some flexibility and over time the odds of arthritis increases, according to several studies.

With the Modern Approach, once the tear is located through an MRI image, the needle containing the stem cells is injected directly into the tear with the use of ultra sound. Unlike surgery, getting back to normal activity can be anywhere from a few weeks to a couple of months. Moat people start to have decreased pain in the first 48 hours.
